About
An illustrated book cover redesign for Ruth Ozeki's "A Tale for the Time Being."
The story revolves around Nao Yasutani, a Japanese emigrant who lived in America during her childhood. The koi fish swimming around Nao represent the people she and Ruth, the second protagonist, encounter in their journeys across time, symbolized by the surrounding water. The pink lilies signify the moments of happiness in their stories, as both women realize that their futures can only be shaped by their own actions.
